Mark becomes the latest and, for this season, the final member of the Magnificent Seven that is now a truly magnificent 20 riders strong. As with almost all of the guys Mark contacted me with a really nice message to ask if he could run with our logo on his bike, helmet and race truck this year and how much would it cost him to do so!
Having initially started out racing in 2012 & 2013, like so many others, the completely family run team were continually struggling to keep a competitive bike on track and eventually both financial, and more importantly, family commitment saw the team take, what would turn out to be, a 5 year hiatus.
In July 2018 the call of the circuit proved too much for Mark to resist and he found himself back on the grid for the final two rounds of the season at Darley Moor in the Open Solo class and the Newcomers where quite remarkably, given most of the competition had 5 full rounds under their belts, Mark took himself to the top step of the podium on both occasions surely making him a strong tip for Newcomer’s honours this season. 2019 will see the team back at Darley running for the full season in the Newcomers, Open Solo and All-comers categories aboard a beautifully turned out Suzuki GSXR1000k8 and Mark is quick to also shine the spotlight on the boys and girls that keep him on track and at the front of the pack, they include Fiona Meakin, Chris Meakin, Dave Horan, Ian Davis and Motor Wurks
Already planning for 2020 the team are hoping to also enter the EMRA (East Midlands Racing Association) championship as well as some rounds of the No Limits Championship. The team are currently on the hunt for fresh sponsors to help them achieve their aims for the next year or 2 and if you would like to get involved you will be assured a very warm welcome, a brew and at the end of the day a beer or 2!
If you would like to get involved or find out more about Mark and the team then please get in touch and I can pass on his details or you can find him on Facebook.
